Ginny Arnott-Wood, BA, CFP®, CIM®
Wealth Advisor & Associate Portfolio Manager
After earning a BA in English from the University of Toronto, I spent some years in the magazine publishing and advertising field before switching gears to become an investment advisor in 1997. As a rookie broker at a major bank-owned brokerage firm I cut my teeth learning how to evaluate and trade stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, listening to clients, and honing my skills as a Wealth Advisor.
In 2009 I attained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, and in 2016 achieved the Chartered Investment Manager (CIM®) designation which qualified me to be licenced as a discretionary portfolio manager.
In 2017 I moved my practice to team up with the independent Raymond James office in Burlington. Adding to the traditional financial services I provide for clients I now have a growing focus on sustainable and socially responsible investments, becoming certified as a responsible investment specialist. Using proprietary screening tools and ongoing education, I am proud to help clients build wealth while building a better world.
Estate planning and building a legacy is becoming an increasingly important part of my practice. Raymond James now has its own trust company, Raymond James Trust (Canada) Ltd. With the growing complexity and liabilities of settling an estate, many of my clients are choosing to use RJT (Canada)’s corporate executor and P.O.A. services as an integral component of their estate planning, rather than naming a family member or friend to serve as executor.
I conduct financial literacy workshops, particularly for women and young people, including a financial basics program for clients of a shelter for women who have experienced domestic abuse.
I live on a rural property in the Niagara Region with my husband Rob, two dogs, and two cats. I feed my soul by singing in the choir of Christ’s Church Cathedral in Hamilton, find my Zen in knitting socks for family and friends, and support my community by going on impromptu tours of Niagara’s excellent wineries.
